Rebecca,
Thanks for the comments. I really like this shot, it kinda tells me a story ... I love the old farm equipment too. It's sad because by the time todays tractors and stuff are as old as this one there will be nothing left of them do to all the plastic parts they are made of.

Stuart.

You are a lady after my heart. You see I am old enough to have driven a tractor like this. These were in use in Kansas until factories started making tractors again after WW 11. The same goes for the car you posted. Almost identical to my first used car, side sun visors and all. I loved these photos. Del.

My old Fuji FinePix did not have B/W mode so I never knew Digital could do this. After reading that you shot this in B/W, I grabbed my manual on my new camera and lo and behold I can shoot in B/W and sepia...and a few other neat settings..woohoo. I really have to sit down and take the time to read all 300 pages. Probably lots of other neat things in store.

Christine, Sometimes I take them in black and white mode, but in this case, it is converted from color, as the color of this was actually a red faded to a pinkish tone, which I did not like. I have PS Elements, which has a grayscale mode. I convert it to this, then sometimes add a little more contast or sharpen a little. The car was shot only in black and white mode. Thanks for the compliments :)

You are fantastic at converting images to B/W Rebecca. How do you do it? You keep it crisp and clear, shiny metal gleams, rusty metal keeps that dull tarnished look, the grass comes outs with an infra-red quality. The lighting is always perfect, just the right tones on everything. The lettering on the tractor stands out perfectly. Lessons please.

Just love it Rebecca, pleased you did it in b/w as I think colour would make an old thing look new.

Great shot Rebecca. I love the sharpness of the tractor and the way the body follows a L/R diagonal.
There's a home not far from my place that has 2 tractors ..... 1 on each side of the driveway. Cars, old tractors, these people MUST be putting them there to amuse us.

Nice one. Looks old, it's got a crank in the front to start the engine. I wonder how long that thing has been sitting there...
