About	It was nearly dark, and the geese were so far away I needed all of the zoom my dime store camera has including full digital. I just happened to like the shading that turned out. I realize it is not a very professional photo. But I liked it so decided to post it anyway.

Superb capture!
I agree I almost never use my digital zoom (I mean, that's a gaussian blur is for) but sometimes you 'see' the shot, and that's your only recourse.

In this shot, I'd say you succeeded! It's still very sharp.
