About last May i uploaded this photo as my first usefilm submission. it was taken more than 10 years ago. after some reworking I'm uploading it again now, quoting the 'about' text I then wrote:
"A 10 hour shutter speed was used for this picture, which was taken in the base(1950m) of Astraka peak(2436m) on mountain Gamila in Epirus,Greece. It was Christmas time and the EOS shelter was crowded, but that didn't bother us since we had planned to sleep in our tents. After pitching my Salewa(the red one on the left) and arranging my stuff, I took my old Zenit with a 29mm and a small tripod and set up this photo, having in mind that I would close the shutter the next morning.A cable release was used to take care of the loooong exposure, and then me and my friends walked to the Shelter to drink hot coffee and socialize with fellow mountaineers, leaving the light trails of our headlamps behind.Very few cameras are capable of time exposures that long in sub-zero temperatures, and I'm glad Zenit is one of them :-) "

I know the possibilities of the Zenith http://www.usefilm.com/image/587872.html

but it is the photographer that realizes the photo not the camera
and you have made an absolute masterpiece

My dear orthodox brother, this is an amazing photo.
I like long exposures very much, and the star-line here looks fantastic.
However, this was an easy job for a master, like you.
I wish to thank you for your comment.
Best regards,
Danijel

A classic mountaineering image, well composed and exposed. Too hot and humid today in Tennessee, wish I was there.

Like all your photos, Kostas, this is awesome! I like all your photos and you have inspired me to shoot more light trails and night photos. have you every shot any fireworks photos. I think you should. They probably would be awesome like all the rest of your photos.

this is such a wonderful shot! its great because i love camping (though not in such weather!), great because of the star trails, and of course because of the trails of light that scream "kostas was here!" well done.

Kostas,

I personally would have liked to see more sky, but this is a great composition none the less. I also guess you didn't mave much choice as to camera locations...

Just fantastic. What aperture did you use? Did the shutter freeze open?

KT, this is amazing, baby. I know you like to camp when its cold, what season is your sleeping bag? I might need to get one so I can come along and get star trails with you, how lovely would that be? I promise I won't complain! Muah.

One thing that fascinates me about long exposures is that the difference between a 5 hour exposure and a 10 hour one is the same (or even less, when one considers reciprocity failure) as between 1/2000s and 1/1000s. Light is such an intriguing aspect of this universe of ours :-)

Kostas, you are the master of looong exposures. I liked the original, but I find this one is more appealing. Dunno, maybe it's the tonality. I love the trail of the stars, it's simple amazing. Great job.

Regards.
