About I like the idea of this picture but it didn't turn out well. I would have liked to have more of the steps in focus. Yet it is interesting to have the blurr as they go on further and curve. The leaves are ugly but I really like the steps.. I dont know, just something to upload and learn from. (can't remember what lens I used.. sorry...and I lost my log sheet)

The idea is really good!
But you must choose about the depth of field.
Or an open aperture with tele or max depth with little aperture and perhaps a tripod!
Good work!

Stairs is a very interesting subject. In architecture is the only part on oblique plane!
This is really good for the composition

Honestly i like the photo... it was a good idea, at first when you look at the picture, you would think that the steps at the bottom are tilted and that you would need to adjust the camera... but then when you look harder the trees in the background are going straight, so then you figure out that the steps are actuilly tilted in life. So yea, i dono if you should try cropping it and makeing the bottom steps level or if you should just leave it. Anyway have a good day.

No, it's a good photo. Only thing I find troubling is that the bottom steps aren't level, and maybe there could be a little bit less DOF.

In order to have more steps in focus, you would need to use a smaller aperture. (a higher number f-stop) This is where a tripod becomes very handy, allowing you to use the longer exposure times required to achieve the DOF that you want. The 50mm lens you used should be capable of lots of DOF.

I think you have a very good idea here with this staircase leading you through the photo. I found the background a little bit distracting, so I had some fun with it in PS and came up with this. I darkened everything except the stairs, and then sharpened them a a bit, then used hue/saturation to give the stairs a more eery bluish look. I apologize if me changing your photo does not agree with you, I was just having some fun. :)

I'm no technical expert . . . but this is not a "bad" photo, but one about which you rightly identify some areas needing improvement . . . In this image, I love the colors, and the perspective . . . someone else better at this than me can tell you how to increase dof to acheive the focal range you want.
