Hi Darrin, The dark tones cast a very gloomy and omnious mood over the otherwise tranquil and crisp moring scene. (Which is considerably stronger in the previous one than in this shot, but yesterday I couldn't put my finger on it, yet, and besides, I find this one more subtle and better balanced, although the perspective in the previous shot is fantastic....)
The sole swan is a beautiful touch, it adds alot of tension and atmosphere (that of a misplaced sense of safety)
Technically, I think this one is superiour to the previous one too. The tonal range and tones is much more sophisticated. Very well exposed, and virtually grainless. It looks like a difficult situation, though.
Furthermore, I like the clearing on the right, it leads the eye into the brightness of the sunlit fog. (which is reassuring...;o) the pastel tone is as subtle as beautiful. Very well composed.
A highly intriguing shot; under "normal circumstances I think it would be one of a dosen, but the fog pulls it out of the ordinary. Not often that I spent two days trying to come up with a sensible comment, and even now I'm not sure I make any sense. If not, please disregard the prevous narrative and place "I like it!" in stead.
Lovely scene! I think I might have cropped most of the light from the right side, my eyes seem to be drawn to it, but that's just a suggestion. Beautiful just as it is.
