About The Easter holiday has been wet, windy & cold here in the South. Deprived of photogenic subjects even the fruit in the bowl starts to take on strange forms.I didn't know if this should be called 'Rude Food'

Yes I know, it takes a lot time. But during daytime (here in Sweden) is the best time during a 24- hours period.

Hi Jeanette, This was as I found it in the fruit bowl. Thanks for your interest in my work and your comments. I hope to post more pictures when time allows although I find Usefilm goes very slow most days. Even looking at other post and commenting can be quite time consuming. I hope it speeds up soon. Regards John

Excellent. I have to ask you if this is the result after some PS work or did it look like that? Anyhow - it does not matter - it?s superb and fantastic. Your portfolio is great, and I think I said that before. Hoping to see some new images from you soon.

Thanks very much for the enthusiastic comments Cindi. You are no 'slouch' with the camera either.

I will go through your portfolio in detail when time allows.

You comment on F16 reminds me that is a mistake. The G3 has a smallest aperture of F8 but the 35 mm equivalent is about F22 or so. Glad my images are giving you so much pleaseure. Regards John

And thank you for sharing details on the other shots. 10+ into favs. You got a fan here, this one deserves the "gush"! Kind Regards, Cindi

The burning question for me is....did you eat it?

PAUL CZAJA   {K:2563} 4/17/2004
Ed Weston would applaud this if he were still with us -- and as evocative as were his green peppers, a pear is oh so much sweeter! Great work!

that's a very nice fruit shape, please visit my last shot showing a strawberry which could couple well with this fruit too :))

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique An impressive image, and as everyone has commented the double entendre work very well indeed.

The lighting is almost perfect, just a tad darker towards the top as previously noted. However its the angle at which the fruit sits that adds most to this composition, the angle is just right. I can't think of any other way to enhance the image.

Congratulations

Keith

Hmm... Ruebens' pear? :) Very nicely done, John - beautiful, soft lighting on the subject that really works well to mould the... um... voluptuous contours of the fruit!

Pretty brave thing you've done here, John. Taking a picture of a not-so-edible looking pear. And I laugh when I read your comment that it might be called "rude food". When I scroll down to block the view of the top of the pear, it looks like a the back of a kneeling nude woman who is desperately in need of medical attention. :)

Excellent lighting and angle!

obviously it's a female pear.
and your shot is a seducing clair-obscure.

Interesting point of view
So... this is what bad weather does to you?
Not bad at all, considered what you did with an ordinary pear!
Great capture, superb lighting

What a delightful look at an ordinary fruit. What a great eye the photographer has to see something other than the fruit itself. Then you added mystery, via the faded darkness..... and made us look closer. I can promise you this is the most suggestive and remarkable pear I have ever admired. Great work, in regard to techincal aspects as well as aesthetic.

LOL! Sunshine deprivation takes many forms, John.
I like the dark exposure...maybe even fade the photo out before you can see the stem. Leave 'em wondering. ;)

Lovely. So you say you were "deprived of photogenic subjects"? Hmm.
