I like how the bridge recides into the background fog. The flow of the bridge really makes your eyes travel into the image. Also like the perspective.

oh yeah, ok, then i guess you have a bit of color cast here too if you scanned the print. Well that explains it and actually, the image survived rather well considering! It must be unbelievably nice in its physical form.
as to scans, i had negs scanned for the first time the other day and i'm very disappointed and distressed. i'm going to a better lab to do them again and see what happens. i've just started shooting film and i don't know s--t from Cheyanne! :)) thanks for the reply..kat~

Kathleen, yes this was a reflective scan of the color print not of the negative as it should have been. I have a habit of scanning the print I get from the lab when it is balanced to my taste. I usually loose something when I do that. I should scan the negative and start from scratch as I would in black and white.

i like how you framed this one, Tom..the bridge curves perfectly through the image area and i love that it disappears into the mist before it comes to the physical limits of the photograph. The flatness really expresses the weather conditions when you shot this and i like that as well.
i do wish for just a little more contrast in the bricks of the bridge support and only because they're in the immediate foreground and practically merge with the reflection in the water resulting in a large dark form that is very heavy for the wispy misty lightness of the rest of the image. But looking closer, what i'm thinking is that these tones are so delicate that your scan probably killed the subtlety..am i right? i am just starting to shoot with film and having scanning problems so i've got scan on the brain..but my biggest problem is the subtle tonal variations seem to deteriorate in the conversion of analog to digital. But i'm after solutions so i'll keep trying. So glad i found your portfolio, Tom! kat~
