Sorry for the delay Matej. You have nailed something here. It is obvious that the main vertical line was worked to be the main focal point. For that matter, it was even touched up with a light glow effect. It is noticeable. But, as you have noticed, there are also these golden spots that could be another anchor in the image. Here's the photographer confession : at the time of the shooting, they were what attracted me most. They are drops of water catching the glow of the sunset. All of these last frames come from a roll of Fuji Reala (ISO 100) I tested in Montreal's Hot Houses, in the botanical garden. There, we are not allowed the use of a tripod, and the MicroNikkor is a fixed focal at 60 mm, so it rapidly became athletic to frame and shoot with my body in all sort of weird positions, fighting to keep reasonnable shutter speed and DOF. In the case of this particular shot, I missed the point : the drops are out of focus for one and too small for the other. But I still felt some attraction for the intricate web of lines, that reminds me of neurones, defined by the main transversal line. I still feel that a better deeper DOF would have helped to really reveal that evocation though. Thanks for taking the time and putting in some extra commentaries.

I can see why you shot this for the project, but there's something that I miss here. I can't quite put my finger on what it is. The lines are there, yes, of many sizes and directions, and the angle at which the main vein is running seems very fitting (by which I mean I can't think of any better angle). As I view the photo, my eyes, searching for something to hold on to amidst all those flowing lines, tend to end up at the small golden reflections to the right of the second vertical vein from the left, as these stand out - very subtly - from the green surface. Perhaps that is the problem - that these reflections are almost a point of focus, but not quite.
Or perhaps it is the scale, large enough to make the subject readily recognizable, that fails to raise my curiousity to a sufficient degree. Maybe if you came in closer, and withheld from us all the colour information? I'm still not sure. (I suspect this entire comment will be of rather limited usefulness, but it's helping me to sort out my thoughts over the photo.)
