Tone and detail are right on. I'd consider cropping out the small piece of wing and the capture is just a tad hot in spots.

Yep, they eat snakes, mice, rats...pretty much anything like that. Once their prey is captured, they throw it against the ground until all their bones are broken. Supposedly it makes eating them easier. Like I wrote -- not very nice birds. ;-)

Kookaburras are my favourite bird, them and crows.
They are so cool, i love their calls/laughs - it's intense when you sitr there and listen to the sound, sometimes it's hard to remember that it's actually coming from a bird.
hehe adam - they've got the biggest balls hey!! they eat snakes and everything

I think the highlights of the bird's plumage are a bit too strong and slightly blown out but the capture is great. The DOF is dead-on perfect. The composition is outstanding. Overall excellent work.

It looks like the flash was a little strong unless that's what you wanted, of course.
I saw one of these at the zoo and they explained a little about their feeding habits. They're not very nice birds.
