Kenneth,

Here are a few explanations.

"What do you mean by a square frame, do mean i should get more of the stone building?" - Yes, I thought a bit more at the bottom was good and by other perspective, I meant more of this perspective, by having more at the bottom.

Then you said that you do not agree with a rating of 4, but my rating to you was a 6. Please note that you have received 2 ratings so far. The other rating averaged with my 6 is a 4 - not my opinion about your shot.

the way I rate is based on a comparison between what I see and what I believe would be the best possible picture of the same subject The result of this comparison is upon 8 and I keep the last 2 points for creativity and extraordinary work. Here, I thought that your picture was a 5 upon 8 and a 1 upon 2. Total of 6.

Besides that, don't bother too much with these figures, as there are as many different ways to rate as people - which is why I do not believe ratings mean much. For example, I personally don't have much interest is this kind of shots, so if I would just rate based on my taste, I may have given you a 4, and somebody else may even give you a 1. Whether it would be fair or not, that all depends again on what basis people rate pictures. Therefore, just forget it. But I personally feel that any rating below 4 should require a little comment. Just my opinion again. Don't get discouraged ! Cheers. :-)

This is actually from my textural landscape series assignment.

What do you mean by a square frame, do mean i should get more of the stone building?

And what other perspectives? this was really the best angle of view i can get, that shows the columns in a way.

I do agree that the print was abit dark in the shadow areas.

a rating of 4/10, i do not agree.

thanks Marc for the judgement. it made me think.

An ok shot, well composed, but a subject that calls for details in the shadows. Right now, the sculptures disappear in the dark, which I find sad. Besides that, this angle and approach is common, so you would need to somehow add something. I'm also a bit surprised that you decided not to use more of the perspective here. More at the bottom (maybe a square frame) seems to be helpful in order to create something out of this subject. Just my opinion though. Best regards.
