About Covered by sand in the summer, these rocks along the shore become exposed in winter as the storm surf pulls the sand off the beach. The next in the "Watercolor" series. Posting these to get reactions for a possible calendar or similar project.

The rocks are a beautiful subject. i love their arrangement on the beach, their moist gleam and their beautiful random symmetry. i like the angle you shot at and i also like the inclusion of the boardwalk. It makes an overall lovely scene. i think the middle ground needs to be better illuminated. You have great depth of field but the middle is poorly illuminated and my eye just goes straight from rocks to boardwalk. Another option would have been to limit your depth of field so that the rocks become the entire focus and the rest is a lovely soft background. This image has suffered from your exuberant blurring, IMO. There are JPG artifacts in the foreground sand that affect your image quality. Additionally, there is a green smudgy something on the left side of the frame on the rocks. i think your PS work here could have been a little more subtle. You have stripped your midtones and achieved almost a paint by number effect, with color filled in in blotches, one next to the other, no gradation. Your POTD was far more successful. That one is closer to your vision i think. regards: kat~

Robert I think I would be inclined to get rid of the upper portion and just keep the rocks and part of the ocean on this image. The cliffs do not have anything to do with the image IMO. The rocks and the sand gives the image enough texture and tonality to stand alone. Love the image for those traits.
