About Taken last weekend on a cold, sunny November day. Converted to greyscale using only the red channel (to give the red filter effect on the sky). What do you think? I'll upload the colour version if anyone wants to see it as well!!

Sarah very nice.
Where is the original? I have never used Kodak royal.

Thanks Ken, Andrew and Ron.

Andrew, you made me smile when you said I was a 'little photoshop whiz'. I am indeed little (only 5 foot tall), but I'm no photoshop whiz. It's my mum who does all the computer work - although I did convert this one after watching her convert my 'marram grass' picture for me.
As regards the sky-crop suggestion, this kind of sky passes for dramatic here in Wales, so I'll keep it as it is.
Thanks again for all the kind words.

Sarah

Hi Sarah,
Once again, very nicely done. When confronted with "The Rules" and your feelings, always go with your feelings.

And I didn't even realize you were little! How did Andrew know that? ;-)

Sarah. I didn't realise you were a little Photoshop whiz! I like this photo. It is also different to the others in your folder. You are getting more experimental aren't you? I need to do the same too I think. This shot is very nice in the B&W. I would imagine the monochrome gives it a nicer look than the original. I think a little cropping off the top would be nice, since the sky is not really that dramatic, and maybe more sand leading you to the person. Then again you didn't know he/she was there did you?

This looks great, Sarah, I like the angle from near the ground, and the tones. One picky detail--ideally the person's head wouldn't be exactly at the horizon line, so he would stand out better. He'd have to be about 20 yards to the right for that to work, without sacrificing the low angle.

Thanks Dawna for your kind words.

When I got this print back from the lab, I actually couldn't remember the figure being there, and thought also, that it would have been better if he/she had been off-centred. However, I now quite like the fact that this rule has been broken. I'll have to pretend I did it on purpose !!

nice Sarah, your work is really coming along :) I notice particular improvements in how you compose a scene.
I would suggest a crop on the right side, so the figure is not so centred, and is walking into the scene then.
