About I had some film to burn so I decided to go to the 3rd floor of one of the academic buildings on campus and see if I could get a shot of the airport with all of the cool lights. Not the greatest pic but I'm really really inexperienced when it comes to night photography..in fact, I think this is the ONLY night photo that has turned out somewhat good. Any advice would be appreciated..thanks!!

Kim,

Unfortunately I'm stuck with a 35-80mm lens until xmas time..then I'll have a telephoto..I'll have to revisit the site again after that time! Anyways, I'll check our the forums and see if I can find anything out...thanks for the advice..I'm still somewhat new to the usefilm.com community. One of the main reasons I think my night shots have not turned out so well is because of my tripod..it's very old and isn't the sturdiest thing in the world. But I think the biggest problem is probably just technique and improper framing or something like that. I'll have a look at the forums. Thanks again!!!

In order to understand more of your night shot woes can you explain what the others looked like in comparision to this one? Or maybe ask a question in the Photography Help forum on the main page. People are very willing to help you understand how to take better night shots, me included!

This looks to be at the max of your zoom range... do you have a longer lens? There seems to be a lot of dead sky and foreground that is a bit distracting. I've attached a crop which might not be better, but gives a different option for a panoramic.

Please post a forum topic... or search the topics to see what others have asked.
