Hello George, in response to your question, I have used the G3 in program and automatic. I just gave it as a present to a nephew, and I am buying either a D60 or a D10, because I want to use various lenses. I also have an S50, which is very handy and I carry it with me all the time. In the olden days I used a Canon A-1. I have mixed feelings toward the G3. If you have any specific question, I'll try to answer.
Anyway, the color saturation and separation and other effects, I get with Photoshop and not so much with the camera. I am basically self-taught from a variety of books and I experiment a lot. Again, if you have specific questions, I'll try to answer.
