About I found these very beautiful flowers growing in the weeds behind my workshop. I spent all afternoon experimenting with the diopter so I could get a good close-up.

Hi, George,

The colors are marvelous on this (I'm a sucker for violet flowers)! I agree with Lee about the crop and the DOF. I'm also a little "bugged" by the shadow across the large leaves to the right.

Hope you don't mind but I did a quick crop which I feel simplifies the image a little.

I find this flower to be a lovely subject but the background is so busy it draws the eye away from ther main focus. Your actual focus appears somewhat soft on this and I might suggest the rule of thirds with this and not have the flower or any subject matter directly centered.

You certainly got that one flower in detail. However, there are so many interesting shapes and elements to this composition that I almost feel like the flower in the middle is taking away from that a bit. I think this would look nice with a softer focus or filter, complimenting both foreground and background.
