About I'm pretty sure this is Monument Valley, or at least it is part of the same geologic system in which Monument Valley resides. Lucky me to have a window seat on a clear day near sunset.

That is really cool! Pretty good detail for the altitude and the fact you're shooting through a window. Would love to see more detail and sharpness, but considering this is great.

Beautiful textural study! I love the rust color of this formation.

this is a very beautiful, natural abstraction. very nice light and shadow, and lines. you have a very interesting and lovely portfolio. You are a very accomplished photographer.

thank you for your comment on "wall"; it is a photo of a very thick panel of steel. I love construction sites for the unexpected. I liked the "order" of the panels, like found paintings. Any surface texture is oxidization etc. I often change the proportions of images (PS) to get something to work better visually.

Love the color, the view, the light, the angles, the EVERYTHING about this image!!!

I don't think you could have PLANNED this to come out any better. Great Job!

Thanks for your recent comment... I'm going to try to explain my thought processes a little on all my uploads from now on! :-)

Now that is a damn stunning shot! Good job! Regarding Turtle Creek, I was pretty far up beyond Armstrong Parkway, into Highland Park when I took that shot. My wife says we were near a street called Lakeshore or something similar, but several blocks north of where the geese hang out ... thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the feedback!

Dave, I'd hate for you to lose sleep! I'm going to attach the full frame image, which I had cropped. Pleasant dreams!

p.s. I cropped the original to focus the view on the monument structures. Maybe the full frame is stronger?

I am impressed, Mary Sue. This is just awesome, to have been taken from a jet. I have shot similar photos but usually the problem is dirty windows or haze. Everytime I fly, I wish I had brought window cleaner with me to remove the face imprints of the kid who sat there before me.

Okay, in lieu of my earlier statement about comments offering up only "nice shot", I critique this: You should have moved the camera up and to the right just a little to capture more of the ridge. I find just the corner of the ridge to be distracting and unsettling. I won't sleep tonight.

(just kidding, of course)

Dave

This definitly is Monument Valley. You did well being in the right place to capture this.
