jingle: nikkor 35-70mm lens has a "macro" setting(not true macro), it allows the closest focusing distance to close up from 0.6m/2 ft to 0.28m/0.9 ft. i supported my camera by leaning my elbows in between against my knees. (similar to aiming a rifle in the sitting position). i hope that helps! with regards to your picture, the square crop strengthens the subject compostion(ie. the lovers in embrace). the trade-off in this case is including the pavilion roof and sacrifice subject size and clarity. i think you did well, its tricky to meter in this case since they are in partial shade and at the same time, you got the mid-tones right.

hey boss... how do you get such clarity shot from near dist.. apparently i cant do it with my camera... anyway.. the wedding photo that u commented.. i added an attachment to this.. but felt that the majority of the flowers colours.. falls on the left side.. making this kinda not enuff 'depth play' wat say u?

Great macro! Very good detail and excellent depth of field. Well done! I like these kind of shots.
