Thanks for your comments, everybody... Roger Williams: I tried to crop the photo according to what you have suggested, but (as I was expecting) it would be against what I wanted to capture. What caught my interest when walking past this scene was the contrast of the two parts, the upper one depicting the "serene stir" of the city's streets, whilst the lower, spatially dominating part reflects the city in her conscious calm, "deleting" the ephemeral motion, short mayfly moments that are not going to last anyway...
I really appreciate your distinctive style, and am always delighted when I see a new "Honza" among the latest posting by friends. Forgive me if I make a suggestion to one so talented, but I actually think there is another picture within this one, very different and equally if not more impressive. Try cropping out the busy street scene at the top of the image just a little above the lowest line of bricks in the wall. The atmosphere changes markely, and the dazzling white of the swan and its reflection has even more impact. Of course, it works remarkably well exactly as it is, so this is not a criticism... just a different treatment, with the street scene hinted at in the reflection rather being shown so clearly but tantalizingly.
lovely! i like this photo a lot. the bottom half (reflection) has a quite a spooky, moody feel to it. the top has it's own mood, more upbeat and urban. nice work.
