From one of my many trips to Portobello market. I was in the Portobello green covered market and just saw the eye contact between the two subjects and the sheer amount of colour in the frame. I think I almost grabbed the shot without looking through the VF, but I really like this one. It'll get no ratings whatsoever because its not a close up, its not in B&W and it doesn't feature exposed breasts (how many ratings would a B&W close up of a pair of breasts actually get?....the response would crash the site surely).
Andrew-- I like this photo a lot. It combines two of my current favorite things--street photos and markets. Street markets are wonderful places for all the senses. I hope to get back to exploring more of them in the near future.
Thank you for you thoughtful comments on Harbor (http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=225577&ref=email). The yacht is certainly not mine, btw. The original is pretty flat to begin with, and so, in the spirit of your remark above about b&w, I gave it a shot. In addition to tweaking contrast and brightness, I added the clouds in the sky and reflections. In my brief time on this site, I've learned "no clouds in the sky; no comments on the photo." I figured, hey, desaturate, add clouds, and you've got a winner. Ah well, it's not great, but I love the lines. Your tweaks did help, though
Excellent information also on the Sigma lens. I'll be on the look-out for a reasonably priced one.
A B&W close up of a pair of breasts would certainly bring on the comments--if the photo is very sharp and there are clouds in the background.
