I've always been fascinated by the time-worn beauty of rocks sculpted by the ocean. This actually had some interesting colors, but I wanted to distill it down to shape, texture and shadow, so went with b/w. Taken on Santa Rosa Island off of southern California.
Thanks for your comments. Sue, I did experiment with sepia and duotoning, and got some nice results, but in the end I liked best the simple starkness of straight b/w on this one.
Bill, if this isn't funny, how do you explain why the rock on the right is laughing?
