Well it was a beautiful day in Taiwan... and since I had this brand new Nikon D1x I had just had to learn about and since I have become enchanted by the beauty and colors of the Chinese culture, I headed on down to one of the local temples and decided to shoot the ornaments adorning the temple structure.
Believe it or not, but very little other than some cropping has been done to this image. I am truly amazed by the sharpness and color that comes out of the camera.
Like you, I am amazed at what your digital camera can do--in your hands. Your cropping couldn't be improved, and the colours are wonderful, brilliant but not overdone nor crudely over-saturated. I even, on considerationi, like the fact that there's no visual context, so I have to concentrate on the image itself. My own preference is for film, but your photographs are powerful and persuasive evidence that digital photography has come of age. I am not one who automatically gives a row of top scores, but I couldn't think of any reasons to lop even a point off your scores for this one.
