That fill-flash tool has really fooled me - which is good because it has increased my motivation to learn to use an external flash, so that next time I can tell the difference! Or maybe it would help if I simply read the About text more slowly :-)
Breda and Teunis, thank you for your kind words and for taking time to leave them for me!
MATEJ!!! YES-I am not dead I am only 'pining'......(monty python?)....
I am still here my friend, just too busy. My bathroom which I am STILL remodeling has no sink and the floor is still plywood. I should post a pic of that. My wife is on the verge of smothering me in my sleep and hiring a professional to finish!! It did not help things when I brought "another new camera" out to show her! She responded by finding an antique armoire that is twice as much-arrrrggggghhhhh-cannot win :( Of course two lenses came today while she was home.....oh well.
Re: the pic. I am not real happy with it for several reasons but I liked it enough to post it. The white spot is where the 'model' had a biopsy for skin cancer (nothing there thank God). I could have brushed it out-but...I didn't. I could have taken out the white part of the bridge on the lower left also but didn't think it was overly unobtrusive at the time. Looking at it now-I agree and I will try your suggestion (as always). Also, I did not use on-camera fill flash on this, I used the 'fill-flash' tool in PS Elements. Elements came with the camera so I had no excuse not to try it. I just purchased Paint Shop Pro two months or so ago-sheeshhh.....just can't keep up with all the learning involved. Much easier to have Wal-Mart or the Pharmacy process the pics (JOKING! their butchers...lol).
I have been looking at your portfolio occasionally (just not posting-sorry), you are still doing very well I see.
Anthony, you are back!!! So good to see you posting again.
The fill-in flash looks good here, no harsh shadows, no blown out hotspots, and a nice pair of catchlights. I need to get a proper flash and learn to use it like that.
There's a white spot above her eyebrow that would perhaps be a candidate for retouching, and you may want to avoid having that white something in the lower left corner; it's the only real white in the image and so tends to pull the eye a bit.
Could it be that the eyes are sharp but the teeth are not? Or am I just too tired tonight to see properly...
