Coffee trees thrive on the cool slopes of the Hualalai and Mauna Loa Mountains in rich volcanic soil and afternoon cloud cover. Growing in this unique environment, Kona coffee has a distinct advantage over coffees grown in other parts of the world. Coffee trees typically bloom after Kona's dry winters and are harvested in autumn. Coffee cultivated in the North and South districts of Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii is the only coffee that can truly be called "Kona Coffee"
actually, Randy, coffee plants are a pain in the butt to shoot, i have tried shooting their blossoms and, although intoxicatingly fragrant, they don't naturally make a pretty composition. The branches are spiky and the blooms and beans are only on one side of the branch. Knowing this i can say you did a great job with this pesky subject....maybe giving us more of the foreground beans which would have shifted the red beans higher in the frame and would have enhanced the comp just a bit but your use of shallow depth of field is super effective...yum, yum, kona coffee..i could trade you some of my Costa Rican for some of your Hawaiian, waddyasay, Randy?
