Mike; this is excellent-- boat, reflection, sky, lighting are great, and I know that this is what a modern boat basin looks like-- crowded w/ a sea of masts and rigging-- very difficult to work around. I suspect you don't get more ratings/comments on this type of image because people reject the "alterations" you do, ie take the photo too far from reality. But I like this and appreciate the work you put into it, however, I don't have any desire to go this far eithe-- but I recognize the skill and talent it takes to do so. Just my personal thoughts and opinions. Craig

Hmmmz..., to comment on Alexander's comment (doesn't sound quite right, heh)I think you achieve that 'wow' effect by the contrast of the dark sky and brightness of the water. And I think that in this case you've done really well with the effects :)
Excellent pic!!! :)

Hi Mike,

Having looked at your photos, I find that you're a bit heavy handed with the effects. I hate to be so critical, but I hope that I'm being constructive.

The sky in this photo doesn't jive with the reflection in the water. It makes the photo incongruent. Additionally, the heavy handedness of the effect application make the photo look contrived as though the effects were applied for the sake of having effects. I think that a more subtle approach would be in order. You achieve the initial "wow" effect, but the image doesn't hold the viewer transfixed (I think).

From a compositional perspective, I think that cropping the bottom a bit from the upper corner of the peer on the right side would enhance the composition.

I hope I have been helpful.
