I would say the Vino worked!! Really a nice take on the cliche' sunflower although I just spent the day in a big filed of them and probably only got cliche' shots...
You are going to Love Velvia! Gotta get the exposure right but you'll love it!

Sunflowers are awesome to begin with, and what you've done to this one is very amazing. A wonderful painterly feel, with great framing of the original subject. The only slight nit I have is the tiny white dot in the green centre of the sunflower. It's probably just a tiny piece of dust from the scanner, but I noticed it and now keep going back to it. A quick clone of the dot would fix it. Thanks for such an unique view of this flower!

A Cezanne sunflower in Van Gough style! IMO, convincingly incorporating brush strokes into a photo is one of the thorniest PS challenges out there. Vino or not, this is a very good job. You've done really nice work in incorporating the strokes into the composition as a whole, and especially, in working with the transitions between tones and shapes. Another approach to the same challenge which I think comes close is a photo illustration by Pierre Dumas at PN (http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1206969). To me, this image really captures the a sense of Van Gough's "liquid" vision. Now, if only the two could could be combined! Salut!
