About Burano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon.

It is situated near Torcello at the northern end of the Lagoon, and is known for its lacework and brightly coloured homes.

The island is situated 7 kilometres from Venice, a short 40 minute trip by Venetian motorboats, "vaporetti".

The current population of Burano is about 2,800.

During our visit to the island, in early January, it was overcast and quite dim. The weather was certainly not conducive to obtaining the best photos!
