Thanks all of you for the great comments. I agree, they should look juicier, deeper colors. I compared to the original print just now, and that one is somewhere inbetween the one posted here, and Michaelle's boosted version. So not bad, but not yet good either. Still have alot to learn, and hoping to be able to do so soon, when I have my Elan 2... been waiting for 7 weeks already :-((((

Bjorn,
This could be such and interesting image. You received some wonderful critiques on this one and they are spot on! I agree with all that was said, and can't wait until you get the elan II so that you have a working light meter so that you can really play!!!

I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of playing around a little... it's not perfect by any means... but they do look a bit "juicier" :)

Bjorn, I agree with Richard and Elangs. With a photo of strawberries, I'd expect it to be rich with colour, with strong contrast between the overall red and the yellow dots. You haven't got that here, and thus indeed the photo looks flat. I briefly looked at the B&W version, and I find this one better, but I think it would be better still if it were more saturated.

The inclusion of one whole strawberry with the green top and having it in focus was a nice touch. The crop is also good IMO.

Bjorn, I like the one sharp strawberry as a visual cue. Maybe it's the limited dof, or a kind of topping on the fruit, but the overall contrast and "punch" seems to be lacking. The image appears flat instead of sparkling. It could be that the scan was not the best, but that is conjecture on my part.

Do you mean lighting is so bad that I need to get the lightmeter fixed asap??? ;-)
The story is this: I have an EOS 3000, and this LTL 3. The EOS is good, very good, but my wife uses it alot too, to make pics of the kids, and since I always like to have a camera handy, I take the LTL 3 when I go to work etcetera. However, the battery of the lightmeter is dead, and it cannot be replaced, and since this type of battery is no longer available in Belgium, I'llhave to stick to my eyes as lightmeter. I ordered an Elan II from ebay to replace the LTL 3, but I am still awaiting delivery...

It is an intersting with reds and touch of green. And i read your comment on b&w version of this shot saying this was also shot w/o metering... I think you got to do something about it.. :-). Also the picture seems to be little soft and grainy. Starwberry... you got get that striking red color, No excuse!!! ;-) What you say!

Elangs.
