Location City -  Rome
State -  THE RIVER TIBER
Country - Italy   Italy
About I have stood on the banks of the Mighty Mississip. I have tossed American quarters into the Thames in the heart of London (Yes, quarters have George Washington on them). I have set eyes on the Seine at sunset. Great cities have great rivers cutting, etching history through their places... I said to MM, "We have to turn here. We MUST go this way." She nodded and followed along. Within minutes we were standing over the river Tiber... I don't care what any of you think about Rome or Italy... to stand on the edge of the River Tiber is to take in the past of man and hear the flow of history eddying about the base of ancient stones. I have stood over the River Tiber.

Hmmm I have an irational part saying, "and they've left that beautiful hunk of stone in the river getting wet?"
(With you in it and both sides of the ruin I prefer Mary Margarets).

For your pleasure... here is a photo of me taking a photo of me standing over the River Tiber. MM (The Lovely Mary Margaret) took this shot.

I envy the person who has stood over the rivers Tigris and Euphrates. And as always... I share the thoughts of history.

Hi Jim,
I understand Jim. It's impossible to try and keep up with everyone. I don't worry about who comments and who doesn't on my images.
BTW I've got to know that whenever I do open one of your images, I can always count on a great "about" section. As you hinted, the about section can be as important as the image. It's always most enjoyable when the two compliment eachother with wit and feeling.

Thank you for the great reply. Yes, I do so love writing a good, solid "about"...I know you have commented on several photos of mine and I have only made a silly comment on a pic of a hawk you posted. It is not because I do not look and appreciate the photos of others that I comment so seldom...it is because I am a lazy-arse... and just do not keep up with my social responsibilities. Thank you again... the "about" means as much or even more to me than the actual photo. I have seen much of your work... and just because I do not make a comment does not mean I do not like it.
Thank you.......
Jim

A beautifully written about Jim.
Scenes like this take your breath away and have a way of making you stop and really think...
