About This seemingly innocuous photomicrographic image takes on the form of a rosebud or, with some stretch of the imagination, a set of praying hands. Image obtained with an antique B&L microscope using darkfield illumination. This is a photograph of the anus of the fruit fly Drosophilus, magnification 450x. Just wondering who reads the photographer's comments. Prepared slide, balsam mounted.

Of all your fly parts photos I think I like this one the best (I wish you hadn't said what it was, yuck). Wonderful colors, lovely flowing sense of motion and mystery. I remember taking fruit flys home from school to study eye colors and such and I even looked at them under the scope, but not this close! I will never think of them the same again.

Well this is so beautiful -- very delicate and ethereal and the colors are wonderful as well. You know, if I were a fruitfly's anus, I'd certainly be praying, too ;). Fabulous work!

Thanks for your thoughtful comments on my work -- I really appreciate it.

I read the comments, really incredible photo. Thanks for your comment on the sepia daisy I posted. No, I did not isolate channels because I do not know how. I just learned a little about layers but definitely haven't figured out channels yet. The old Sony I used to have had a feature to take pictures in sepia. When I adjusted the levels in PS today this is what come up. Regards, Rhonda

I'm simply amazed! I would have sworn this was a rose bud heavily manipulated in Photoshop or the likes.... This is a stunning image regardless of the subject. Congrats on a electrifying image!!

well, I do
...
never ever suspected that the very ass of a drosophila fly would resemble praying hands
:)
so, poor drosophilas (men's predilected victims for genetical experiments for a long time) als pray to god
:
oh, lord, make us free from mankind's rule!
:)
excellent and outstanding, your micro-macro, by the way!

Holy Cow! No its not... too beautiful for such a scarry microb. As you can see I read the comment. Its first impacted me as elegant beauty such as childhood dreams and fairies are made. Its beautiful and moving. I hope it is not as you say that idea is disturbing.
