I think exactly the same about that, Andre! The presence of such "everyday problems" adds many difficulties perhaps but also photographical interest, in case of course one doesn't "invade" people's lives. I always admire photographers that are able to do that. It shows not only photographical but also human qualities, I guess.

Hi Nick, I think taking meaningful journalistic images of people or candids has to be one of the most challenging subjects in photography. Sports stars or celebrities half expect images to be taken, so there is a certain comfortableness being the photographer in that case. But, everyday people as a subject present many different problems. Andre

Yes, exactly, Andre! It is indeed something to keep in mind for a good documentation of that... But still its is so hard for me, even with keeping all that in mind. I start my first rather "coward" steps for reproducing that kind of conflicting life by photographing more of the people themselves than some bridge or building... But it takes time, as I assume, for learing to not distort the real existing "conflict and confrontation" toward some kind of soap opera. At least for myself I can say that it is hard.
Which also means that I continue on trying with a good will and intention, and who knows? Perhaps I can take such an image one day, much more dorectly and with a stronger relation to all the people that surround me.
Cheers!
Nick

Nick, It all sounds like a something to keep in mind when on a photographic shoot of the city streets. All that "good crazyness" "conflict and confrontation" can produce some excellent documentary photojournalist type images. Good thoughts for a Thursday night. Andre

And the question to me is just when it gets not only crazy, Andre, but rather an overshot. Nothing against "good crazyness", that is, but sometimes I wonder where it all might take us to. Exactly as I have to understand the special feeling of a summernight in the city with all it implies, I also have to understand the need of many people to feel "secure" form all that speed and potential danger
It is hard to find a good way between all those different needs. But after all, perhaps this is exactly the very nature of a city. Confrontation and conflict out of which we may all learn to be a bit more careful about the needs of others. In other words, i would always choose rather the "hell" of the city than the "paradise" of some kind of flowery garden. For in paradises there is no such thing like re-examining the own self, recognizing and regreting failures, trying to get better though one knows that there is no chance for reaching perfectness.
Hmmm, did I already mention "thoughts on a Thursday night"??? ;-)
Cheers,
Nick

I guess over the next few years we will be seeing many more of that type of sporty, small engined vehicles taking over the cities of the world. As you say, it will get a little crazier every day. Andre

Thanks a lot again, Andre!
That was not a car actually but one of those vehicles with three wheels, something between a buggy and a bike. It was a Saturday evening last summer and the guys are turning crazy in the city. I can really understand them and the also the fun of all that, but they are really too much sometimes. That one rushed so fast that one of the persons over there almost jumped up in fear ;-) - it is a bit visible on the image too.
Cheers!

It is much less "Swiss" than one would imagine, Fabio, and thanks all heavens for that too! Thanks heavens for the great guys and real city despite our conservative, analphabetic, silly Kantonssregierierung with not a single clue about the fact that we don't live in their fantasies of "nice burgeoise gardens" anymore.
Thanks a lot for the comment!

Nicely done in this one, Nick, with a good trace of the car lights, and good exposure even on the lighted signage. Dave.

A nice creamy look to the image Nick. Beautiful dark blue sky. That car must have been going around the corner pretty fast. Andre
