State -  NOT MY PLACE, ILLINOIS......
Country - United States   United States
About In Illinois we have this thing called J.U.L.I.E. It is a phone number you call so if you dig in the ground to put up a, ohhhhhh……. new cedar fence around the homestead, you do not dig down and cut a telephone or internet line. You call JULIE before you dig and they come out and mark where the lines are… then ya start yer work. Iffin ya don’t call JULIE, you may take a hunk o’dirt out and next thing ya know, “POW!” half a dozen houses on the block are wiffout phones and internet. Then some jerkey fella wiff the yellow hat comes out, looks at you in disgust and patches the broken cable wiff these long extender thingies that give ya room to finish the work and plant a fence post. Just lettin’ all you folk out there know… call JULIE or be the talk of Brookie Street……. Errrr, I mean “Be the talk of the neighborhood” when ya are stupid enough to cut the line.

Just sayin’……………..

keke we have a thing here called Dial Before You Dig... now bein a clever bloke and we are puttin' the deck or paving whatever.. out the front, an the fellers need to dig some shallow foundations, an I says to 'em.. the phone lines goes from here to here to here then over there and then out down the paddock.. so when ya fire up the backhoe.. just go easy...only my place disconnected thankfully.. anyway you will always find the line anyway whether or no.. so whats the loss.. I mean in Aus we dont pay for repairs to lines.. damage and such even if we feck it up ourselves... nowadays tho ya'd be really strugglin to disconnect my internet (or LL's for that matter.. we are both on satellite.. well I am on satellite.. LL is on a direct aerail line to the mobile phone tower network thingy.. da phones however..can still get tipped up
