Cuando llegaron sus verdugos
lo encontraron florecido
con ademán de vientre,
golpeáronlo despiadadamente
en su amoroso verde
y él de vez en cuando
soltaba un pájaro o gemía mariposas.
Nadie lloró cuando alargó
sus raíces, acariciando
aún con vida
la tierra cercana.
Y por el pasillo angosto,
a él, que era alto y ancho,
sacáronlo en tandas.
Sólo sus arterias sollozaron
cuando una brisa pasajera
le desarmó las últimas ramas.
