I browsed over Cagatay's portfolio quickly and many images I found very good or excellent. Thanks a lot for making me aware of his webpage, Aylin.

Dear Nick,
Thank you for reply and I would like to ask you a question: What do you think about Cagatay's photographs?

I guess I'll be out for a long time many times in future again, Yazeed. But that "out" is not that far away.

Cheers!

And I think that you are right, Marcio.

The top step.. well somehow it doesn't seem to belong to the sequence of all the others. But the strange thing is, why doesn't it seem to belong there too? I am a but confused now. Same stairs and one of them looks not really belonging there. What is going on here? :-/

Thanks a lot Aylin!

Well, many many times such B&W images with high contrasts appear in a certain kind of "silence" or "peace" as you say. The shot itself is anything but "peaceful" as one has to struggle for the best result, but the result can pay back.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot Hussam!

It appears to me that it still generates some thoughts about a better composition, according to the suggestions of the guys so far. But in the same time all suggestions do not seem to really eliminate its problems without introducing other problems, for me at least.

Nonetheless it is interesting to follow the ideas of the people and see what happens then.

Cheers!

Surely a faster shutter would prevent those highlights from being so string, Visar. I wanted to have them together with the strong shadows, that's all. I always liked extremely hard contrasts and this was a good chance for me.

Thanks a lot once more!

Do you mean something like the attachment, Marcio?

Stange, but for some reason I find your idea much better than my original eimage and also much better than the proposals of Saad and Gustavo.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot for the nice and detailed comment, Gustavo! The strong contrast was completely wished here. It should make the image "hard" even on the cost of neglecting details. The schematic nature of the pattern was my main intention. As about the shadow on the bottom, I also find it good the way you say (which is what Saad did too). It adds tension by reducing the regularity of the pattern, but the pattern is of course "spoiled" then.

Cheers!

Thanks once more, Saad!

Cropping off the shadow raised the "regularity" of the pattern indeed, though it lowered the element of tension. I like both ways in this case.

Cheers!

i can imagine how hard it is to have a result as such Nick, under those light condition.
here i notice a few burned areas on the highlighted parts, which i think might be avoided in a faster shutter and smaller aparture, perhaps?

however, that is an interesting, almost abstract, repetition of the monotonous sequence, in a nice composition.

cheers,
v.

I like the composition here, Nick, with the corner of the steps forming the diagonal line. The lighting and shadow also emphasize the good composition.
