At last the depth appears! The perspective of distance *behind* the plane of the image! This is really a director's work, it generates a scene of reality even if it isn't real but rather an artificial composition. And here lies the very heart of composition. It is the placement of objects into a three-dimensional scene. Great work alone for that!
The details and the plasticity of objects is perfect! No pixelated edges but still tangible textures and well contrasted contours. The diffuse light edge provides also some kind of energy loaded look and feel of the machine. The idea to combine that with the general on the horse behind it was terrific! It provides the right background for the machine and also some organical look after the mechanical parts of the metal machine.
The two flares round it up with an enhancement of space through light attenuation.
Perfect! You see what I mean? This is also photoshopography but it generated an image of reality. An alternative reality perhaps, but this is exactly what tranfers the spectator from this world into the world of the image.
