About Højriis Castle, on the island of Mors, is the main building of one of Denmark`s oldest estates, with a history dating back to the Middle Ages. The current three wings and tower are conversions from the end of the previous century. The extensive grounds, which are open to visitors, contain vestiges of the country?s finest 17th century gardens, laid out by Postmaster General, Paul von Klingenberg, and also feature Denmark`s largest weeping beech and rhododendron coppice, planted in the 1920s.
