About Enjoying a splendid mountain view, who doesn’t feel the need to make a picture?
Also what more to accomplish in reaching the summit? : Thinking about higher and better :-)

Fortunately on top of Dalsnuten, a gentle granite rock at 323 meters above sea level my subject or model, or other refreshing heart, would not walk away or unpredictably change before capturing. I also enjoyed the absence of stress, plenty of oxygen and Vitamin D at this location and finally taking my time for exploring my latest Nikon D90 camera. I should now find out the secret how making better pictures using a better camera. At least I already discovered that a twice more expensive camera would never make me a twice better picture. Some other factors as weather, inspiration and luck apparently are three times more important. So on average of all pictures made so far a quality increase would be something between 1.2 and 1.5 That would be a much better estimate.

What further would it make a difference in any change of options to manual settings deviating from simply “auto” –or “switched off” ?
Among hundred ways of technical (or just consumers sales-pitch ?) options like white balance, active D-lighting, color space and many more of these buz-things on my high-tech and sorry also top-heavy camera.
On the summit I went into the experimental mode and tried all these options in gradual steps. Curiosity and maybe discovering to get from 1.5 to 1.55 or 1.57 better than previous. You never know.
Never challenged too much my memory card either by taking all in jpeg fine large size (about 6 MB) instead of RAW (about 12 MB)

Conclusion and a new view from the summit:
All what I found most satisfactory after viewing and comparing with Picasa3 just the basic .NEF or RAW picture was superior to all those others with varied processing options reduced to equivalent and compressed jpeg output. So ..no processing and compression by the camera at all ?

This image had to be reduced by compression from 12 MB to 400KB (severely chosen as the approximate UF limit).
I used Picasa3 for this, not my camera, with a 80% quality reduction factor, 1600x1065 pixels as keeping it large and applied some extra brightening to please the eye.
Essentially some real good things of my camera remained: 1/125, f11 with a 18-200 AF-VR Nikkor lens and ISO 200 with a CMOS sensor chip. That one in the new D90 is that of the D300.

Pfff U felt asleep … Too Technical Story? … Not enough visualizing the heart ?
In actually making and viewing this picture my own heart was also needed

Enjoy my view and its background and if you got yourself through my thousand words, it was slightly more than only a picture could tell :-)

Excellent quality and clarity, especially in landscapes that have far far away areas into the frame I ask for the quality, the details of the trees are excellent, especially on that small resolution, sharpness at its best.

It's such a pleasure dear Julie to share our camera. You got our D90 body and VR-etc and me ... I might still own the lens cap :-)
Let's next share the nice view from Dalsnuten: I had to climb to the top in blood, sweat and tears and you enjoy from your armchair.
Let's redefine sharing now :-)
Anyway all shares in general got useless....
Big hug and kisses,
paul

Indeed Tommaso, pure meditation ... or hard working ? Apart from the technical work and D90 experiment my thoughts were also distracted from the camera, in fact most of the time.
So much happened spiritually that you would hardly believe me, if I told you. It was either a sacred place or extreme O2 + Vit D. brought me to higher levels (at least over 300 m? ) :-) :-)
all the best,
Paul

Hi Ania an outstanding view, believe me : over 300 m. Here every valley will get into a Plath's depression :-) It's all relative.
You must have recognised my D90 technical story, the camera with its D300 CMOS heart, that's where true quality is born,
regards and hugs,
Paul
