This looks like a wonderful place. I think your choice of centrally positioning the main subject in a square frame works very well. The trees in the foreground help give the image greater depth, as does the detail in the eroded slopes behind.

A beautiful landscape presented in stunning sepia tones to add to the atmospheric mood of this shot of an historic city. Excellent depth to the view with a lovely crowning of clouds floating above. I agree with Roger's views on your work here and unlike JD I am not an especial lover of the rule of thirds or any other photographic rules. We see a scene, it captures our hearts, minds and eyes and so what if a few branches get in the way they are just a part of the scene we saw before the camera recorded the image. I say well done, this is a delightful piece of work. BTW I also liked the colour attachment. Best wishes to you Paolo.....Ray

Amazing... that castle really looks like being ONE with the mountain... really perfect shot, amazing, reminds me a bit from the movie... The Lord of the Rings... hehehe, with these amazing cities build at the most unusual areas! Perfect image.

For me, this is magical...mystical, dear Paolo, and the branches do not bother me at all, in fact, I think they add to the mystery.

umm OK I have just read the info in the PDF and everyone's comments.. I think the composition is ..perfect the centralisation of the main subject alters the visual hierarchies in the image, as it dos whenever we centralise our main subject. This has the effect of saying I am the most important part of the images (that is what is in the centre) In no way can the viewer be distracted by anything else, the central area is ALL IMPORTANT. For me too the trees ADD to the shot rather than detract and that is that having read about the massive geological problems with the city your placement of the trees in the foreground replicates the non supportive nature of the solid underneath the Tuff cap.. that the city is built on. To me the slender frail and most importantly dead branches appear to try and support the mass of the city above and we know full well that they can’t and wont and that eventually the city will be lost… the sepia toning of course, anchors the image firmly in the past as well using this old archival technique implying that the city will eventually be no more excellent work..

It's an amazing view, I actually like the composition, sure the trees in the foreground are a little distracting but if that's how it looks, then that's how it looks.

Nice place.
Tint with the composition is not appropriate, I think.
Good day, greetings.

...well...I'm here again...for me the central composition works well here in this square format and the branchesin in the FG are an interesting, unusual detail.Like the layered view...create a good perspective...

lovely landscape Paolo with beautiful light and, tone and tonal range but not crazy with the composition, and that's very strange in your work becaause you are a master regarding this aspect; the branches in the front distracts from the focal point, the mountain and castle (church); I think it would be better if you ahd moved an step to the right and a lower position to put the mountain higher and to the left corner (yes, rule of thirds), because in this there are too much empty spce making a very static picture
take vare my dear friend
