About Composition - throw away the rules. The large black area on the right draws down to the mist. under the mist is the sea. When the sun goes down , we are alone - the mist is coming to envelope us. WE are in the dark soon to be overcome.

Luca - I have no problem with the crop-
Suprising as it may seem I have "your crop" as my own print but
I thought it might be better to leave more for usefilm
It is taking me some effeort to work out how best to present for usefilm.com

Thank you for your interest

Just a quick crop, but I like something like this more. To each his own, anyway :)

Luca,
Thank your for your comment.
There are two problems - The black in front - there are only 2 choices - very plain sky, or black foreground
_ I am at 1500m above sea level on a coastal range.
2nd problen is the JPG compression, First the halo is caused by water droplets in the air. We often see this at night with a complete cirle (or 2) around the moon on cold winter nights here in Tasmania, I did have some problems making this image small enough for usefilm. It is an 90MB scan from 6cm negative - very hard to get good reduction to upload.

I understand your choice about the black part but I don't think I agree with it (reflected in a lower appeal score from me). The black line draws to the fog, as you say, and it is very nice, but why that much black underneath? The mountains coming out from the myst are also very nice, just as the colors. The sun has a strange halo around it: the color doesn't change tonality smoothly but rather abruptly ... as if it was a jpeg compression problem.
Bye,Luca
