About This one looks rather problematic to me. I guess it needed a better focus everywhere but is it only that? Any comments would be very welcome.

The question is a part of the general problem that I have about when soft focus introduces an "aged" look and when it doesn't, Avi. Of course I can say after having shot and looked at the image, but I would be glad to know what to do priorly to shooting in order to achieve that "aged" look (for my eyes of course). So I keep on trying things out in a bit more systematical way and hope to find a solution to the problem.

BTW, another good saying about problems: To every incredibly complicated problem there exists a simple, elegant, plausible, and... wrong solution! ;-)

Cheers!

I think too that I will retry this one, Aziz! Thanks a lot for the nice comment, and:

7-epsilon = 7 indeed, in standard analysis.

7-epsilon ≠ 7 in surreal numbers! ;-)
I.e., consider the smallest positive real! ;-)

Ceeers!

I guess the answer is really simple. It matters when it matters to you, and vice versa.

Alternatively, as Einstein said, "don't worry about your worries in mathematics.. I assure you mine are even greater"

:):)
cheers !!

Thanks a lot for the nice and detailed comment, Avi!

Despite my (still existing) wish for those wood textures in focus, it really seems this time that it doesn't matter, as all guys tell me until now. I am glad of course, but it is also a bit strange to me, when focus matters and when it doesn't.

Cheers!

It was indeed the reason to try it this way, Saad. A bit of coordinates system, you see.

Still I would be so happy to have the textures of the wood in good focus.

Cheers and thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot Dave!

I just think that the textures on the wood would be a good plus here.

Cheers!

It would have been not so hard to do, Ian. Plenty of objects to fix the camera on that wooden bridge. And since it is in town, I think I'll give it some more tries.

Thank you very much!

The image is too wonderful to let the visitors think about the focus ! But It will be better with better focus of course. I suggest to repeat capturing.
7 - epsilon = 7 !

Aziz

focus ? what focus ?? I, for one, have never been really troubled with focus issues (I have had them almost always.. he he).. no, this is fine. I see the ying and yang here too.. the streaks of light and the darkness behind it..

geomtrically this scores too, which is a completely different aspect, I agree.. overall, works for me !! :):)

there is no any problem to me,the composition is very, very fine one,I could say geometrical, and you the mathematician you should have noticed that, the frame is divided as two triangles by the edge of the brown woods, the light passes through the lower brown wood as white lines that are perpendicular to the oblique brown wood and so on you could describes more and more, indeed a very fine shot, colors, lighting ,and composition,my regards,
Saad.

I like the contrasting lines and angles here, Nick, and the slightly out of focus on the top doesn't bother me.
Dave.

could have been a real challenge to get all of this in your dof without a tripod.
That said the colour of shaded wood is refreshing for my browsing eyes..
