After almost 3 weeks of rain, the clouds cleared and fog clouds hovered around the hills and trees. As often is the case, this scene presented itself while I was driving down the highway.
Here is what happens using the neatimage program. Look closely at your original clouds in the upper portion, then look closely at the clouds in this image. It reduces the "grainy look" a lot.
One other thing when posting images here. Wehn adding a new image, you are asked the level of sharpening. This is NOT asking the level of sharpening that you have applied! This is asking if you want additional sharpening applied. I click "none" because I have already sharpened my image if it was needed. If your image is sharp, the click the "none" button when adding a new image here. I hope this helps in a small way.
I love these shots Darryl. I'm a coastal fog lover and when you get inland a few miles and up into higher elevations the fog is fantastic as it settles down into the valley floor below overnight. Like a bowl of milk sometimes with trees sticking up out of it sometimes. I live in Coos Bay, but farther south the hills east of Port Orford, Gold Beach, or Brookings can yield some fantastic results with photos similar to yours.
I will add an idea for you if you don't mind. I see some room for improvement with a freebie download called Neat Image. http://www.neatimage.com/ The free download cleans up an image up to 1024 by 1024 or about that size, but you have to pay for the program to clean or reduce noise on images larger than that. I mentioned this because I see an image here that might be improved by using neatimage. Check it out if you want. I don't have the paid version of neatimage yet, but the images here are limited to 850 by 850, well within the range of the program.
I also have another piece of advice to assist with photo clairitity on this website if you want to know.
