Hi Jan, I found out that this was an old dude ranch.

Sorry Michele, the reef is the rock outcroping or the cliff in the background. in the old days there was a mining town on top of that cliff.

Looking forward to seeing more shots of this area. The sunrise shots you posted were great. Really am going to have to start getting to bed earlier and getting up earlier so I have a chance of catching sunrise shots. LOL

That is Carr Reef in the background. This might have been part of the Carr ranch. Thank for the comment.

What a great imagination you have Jan. There is more of this structure I will post later when I get a chance. I took pictures of the sunrise earlier and came across these ruins later when the sun came up. I didn’t have time to explore more, but plan on going back.

I can picture a small cabin nestled in those trees, and these front steps led you up to porch that had a rocking chair or two so sit in after a long hot day filled with chores. Would be fun to explore the surrounding area and perhaps dig here and there and see what you could find (if you could legally do it on this property)in the way of artifacts. At the right of the staircase, was there more to the stone structure than what appears in the photo? Nice composition and very peaceful. Stacked stone structures made without using mortar are very common in Italy and England and in many areas of the east and southeastern USA. Really like the variety of shapes and colors in formations such as these.

Cool stairway you found Bruce - I've never seen one quite like that in structure before - that in itself makes the picture for me - but now it leads no where????? Hmmmmm I wonder about that part
