About Dedicated to my friend Wolf Zorrito. Here is a girl I caught a smile for you. I was walking by with my camera and when I went to take a candid she turned and shared the warmth of her smile. Hope all is well my friend.
Be well Harry, Stan

She was very gracious for allowing me a quick capture. It was at a benefit for raising money for the people of Billings, Mt. She was working at the silent auction table.

Thanks Ania, this was a real moment of connection. I seldom see a person that can be this comfortable when having a quick candid shot taken. I have recently acquired an 24-70mm L 2.8 Canon lens and was trying to see what I could do in not so great lighting conditions. I had to do some PS to get this image to where I liked it. I appreciate the kind words and continued support.

Stan, this is a really good portrait. You've captured the smile and emotions very well. B/w is excellent.
best regards

Oh well, then one has to use the about box.

I am also too lazy to search into my notes and find and input all the data, I must confess to my shame. I really have to work on that. And I should at last start transferring the data from that notebook to the images or else they will be lost some day.

BTW, actually it would be very well possible to have that done automatically by the upload procedures of UF - i.e. server extracts the EXIF (if any attached to the image) and fills them into the appropriate boxes. Perhaps a possible next improvement of the site?

Cheers!

Nick

Nick as far as I can tell the about is the only option for flash info or different shutter and ISO etc for your shot. I see many enter no data at all. I like to see what was used to understand the tech side of the shot.

Oh, I did take a look at the data, Stan. It is them that gave me a hint for the usual "reverse engineering" in the sense of what could have happened if this and that would be different. This is always a good thing for iterative bettering. Which doesn't mean that it is not a good image as it is now.

BTW, is there any possibility to input also data about flash utilisation (or its absence) somewhere else than in the about box when uploading an image? This is also an essential thing, but for some reason it was left out - or I am too stupid to find out how to do that.

Cheers!

Nick

Hi Nick, look at the EXIF data. Jenna and her partner turned heads toward me and this was shot in an auditorium with no flash. High ISO and three kinds of light. Not a perfect shot but I liked the B/W with a PS lighting effect in it. The original is also posted to compare.
Be well and thanks, Stan

She turned her had, and I do the same to that portrait of yours, Stan! What a pity that the reflections in her eyes add a somewhat unnatural touach, and what a good thing it is to have that unnatural touch too! It is in some way disturbing and in some way magnetizing too. The timing was perfect for that in its own sense this time. Classification impossible, so to speak.

The lighting did much good, though I would prefere to let her stand out more (attachment). There is still some kind of "diffuse haze" over the image, while the overall impression is clear enough.

But there is also some remerkable kind of indefitness of details - almost a mixture of motion blur and focus problems. What was that?

Cheers!

Nick

Thanks Mojgan, sometimes I bring out the best in people with my craziness. This was one of those times. I was walking around with my camera at a benefit for helping those in need. I talked to this girl and ask permission for a shot. Works wonders. Thanks for the good thoughts and kind words.

Glad you liked this Harry. I might get the hang of this one of these days. Must of been the Big Bad L lens. The girlfriend is really a sweet heart. We talked after I got their pictures. They were going to the Montana State University in Billings. Both were journalism majors.
Be well and sweet dreams, Stan

So glad you liked it Harry. I just wanted to put a smile on your face as well.. Included is the color version before crop. As you see, technically imperfect but still with some interest. Saad felt you should see the color version. You will see why I went b/W and played with the render filter for a more dramatic effect. She is lovely either way!!
Be well my friend.

Thanks Shirley, just out shooting and working on my people skills. It is amazing what a few kind words and asking permission does. This was at a fund raiser this weekend.

Dear Saad, with a look such as this I forgave the noise. I tried to remove as much imperfection of the technical flaws of this shot, just am not that good at editing such things yet. Thanks for agreeing that Harry would appreciate this. The color version was confusing with a brown back ground of bleachers behind her. Thanks as always for your support and wisdom.

Thanks so much Judith, the light was from some overhead lights in a Shrine Auditorium. The light was minimal for the space. I used a little PS to give it more of a portrait look. I really appreciate the nice comment.

Thanks RG!! This was shot in an auditorium with not so good light. I converted to B/W to hide some of the noise. I went to filters and went to render. I went to lighting effects and did a directional spot light and played with it to match the light source I had in the building. Thanks for seeing my charm at work. Old age and a little treachery works wonders with my years of real life experience and gift of B.S. This girl was a real sweet person. I cropped this from a much larger image. I really like my L lens. My hugs and wishes to you as well dear RG!!
Be well, the GG

Hi Paul, you are writing a fast moving story line. I know for sure that the smile will warm Harry's heart. She lives in Billings, Montana which might be an obstacle, but we do have some lookers here too!! She was working at the table of a silent auction for raising money to help the less fortunate this Christmas season. I was at the show helping my wife market her books. I was drifting around with my camera when I came upon this lovely lady. Thanks for noticing Paul, always enjoy hearing from you.
Be well, Stan

Hi Stan,
I suppose that you also asked her telephone number?
I think that Harry deserves it so much to meet her and make her not just smiling but next to a heartfelt laughing.
If it works out fine and she is also a dedicated photographer, I will even help in promoting a likely wedding,
all the best and much happiness to you,
Paul
