About A final irony is this: The street in front of Luigi's Pizza is Ridge Road. 45 years ago I lived three hundred feet from it. The road on the other side of these trees is U.S. Rt. 6. I live three hundred feet from it right now. It is the same highway that becomes Ridge Road in Gary. I am 150 miles west and 40+ years from my Gary childhood but only a few yards from the same road that connects the two. However, I like this view much better. Rural America has given me things Gary never could, such as this joke: "What did the farmer say when he lost his tractor?---------'Where's my tractor?'" I love my life now. My memories are intact, the reality has aged and decayed. For my money... I think I will go with memories.

Yes, life can be so strange sometimes. I too think someone is trying to send us a message sometimes. Just an odd feeling.

Yep. Crazy life things. Hard to figure out. I have never really "believed" as such... but there are times when it seems someone or something is trying to send us a message... I guess I am not literate enough to read most of the missives.

That's an Interesting story. Kinda similar to mine in a way. Growing up in Trenton GA I lived one street off Hwy 11, then we moved to Chattanooga (TN) again one street off Hwy 11, & then we when we moved here & I am still one street off Hwy 11! For the last 32 years (I am 35). It was never a planned thing, it just happened to be that way.

George, I remember you from a few years back. I posted this Gary, Indiana series 4 years ago... then pulled it off UF. I thought it time to put it up again. Thanks for the comments to my children who have volunteered to serve this wonderful country.

I want to thank you for the last several photographs along with your text. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but a photo with good text is priceless. I am discovering that very large numbers of folks in our age group are doing much the same as you are doing. It really connects them with their own personal histories and is allowing them to share this with subsequent generations.

The tree on the left was killed by lightning 3 years later. So goes life... Thanks for the comment. I see ya pop in to my photos now and then. You are always welcome.

I hear a wise man talking,
there is a link that always will be there ,once you feel that you have missing Gary, just open the window and take a look at the highway, and you have to imagine all your previous life is at the other end, exactly as I am looking at the sky and I feel, not imagining ,all my friends are on the other side of the very same sky,I have few best friends in my life, one of them is,as I think ,very near to you,you could find few line that he input on my shot Gratitude,
yours,
Saad.
