About This raft dissappeared after this shot as these brave people became at one with the river. Notice the oars are in the wrong position and these people go down the Kitchen Sink Rapid in the Bear Trap of the Madison river on Earth Day several years ago. I helped save gear as it washed along the shore and down the river. No one was hurt except the pride of the outfitter that went down with the raft for a while. Lucky for them it was a sunny day to dry out their boat and belongings. Be well, Stan

Thanks Stan, I had gone through before this raft and we were sitting back by the shore waiting for them to come through. It was this guides first try through these rapids and the rapids schooled him. Glad your son gets to enjoy the river as well.
Be well my friend, stan

Yes Teresa, I did see that movie. I believe it was shot in another location. This canyon is floated by many guides with rafts in the spring and summer. I have several friends that are guides and experienced raft pilots. This canyon has 4 major white water features that will get the blood flowing quickly and the sights of the canyon walls and wildlife is incredible. I hike the canyon almost every month of the year. Winter can be a real nice time for the hike with no one else around. Thanks for the interest.
Be well, Stan

Have you seen "River Wild" with Meryl Streep.
Maybe they have done it in the same place?

Thanks Mitra, I had gone through them a few minutes before with a couple of friends of mine in our raft and we had pulled into the back water to wait for them to come through. We had a much better outcome than they did. It is a real adventure down these in the spring when the water is running high.

Hi Lugal, so glad you liked this. I appreciate the comment.. Was a lot of fun to be there and watch it all happen. I had just gone through the rapids earlier and was watching the others make their attempt. I did not get as wet as these people did. Have a great day!

Dear Dave, they got a little more experience in the Kitchen Sink after this dunking. The guide was from out of town and got his first experience in a bad way. The hydraulics of this rapid are quite deceiving as he found out. Once he lost control of the oars and direction setting up for the final descent it was only a wreck in progress. I went through that day as well. We had stopped to watch the others come through. The people in the bow had never been in white water before and might have been cured.

Good action shot of these unfortunates, Stan! I wonder how experienced the crew were?
Dave.
