About
The former time gun used to give ships in the harbour a signal to set their chronometers. It was last fired in the 1930s. the reason for the stop was the very nearby maternity hospital, apparently a lot of kids were born just after one o'clock. 8-)) There is still a one o'clock time gun fired every day in Edinburgh.
I have two Foca Standards, one is 1958, with 35mm Oplar lens, the other 1960 with 35mm Oplex lens. I also have a 28mm Oplar lens (used for this shot) which I use on either camera. both cameras have been recently serviced and have new shutter curtains(a friend in France fitted them for me) They are simple to use and VERY reliable. Thousands of Standard model were used up to the 70's by French street photographers because of their ruggedness.
Hello John, nice shot you present us. Always nice to see people fooling around with old camera's that break down less often than the recent ones :) What year is your Foca from? 50's, 60's? Have a great evening,
