I never rated this image as you and Brigitte accused me of in the Forums and I really don't care if she ever comments on my work again either, but thanks for just visiting my "Summer Reflections" ...

This is a good capture considering the short focal length you are using (for lunar photography). There is really good detail near the terminator.

Sunset Man, I won't be commenting on your images any more. I have never seen this angry side of you and so I am really shocked. Besides, I don't think these are the kind of comments that are permitted on UF. Besides, it's really not for you to tell someone that they should have a frame on their image. In fact, I would venture to say that UF or any photo site prefers "no frame" on their images. Where you come off being so rude when I've always been kind to you, I do not know... but this is the last comment you'll receive from me. Good luck.

(Sorry Rich for all this on your image - I promise it won't happen again)

Aloha Brigitte: I never and don't have to buy a print from another Photographer especially one who has 1,752 images on line with -2,686 Comment Karma Points, and is NOT a Contributing Member so you must perhaps be his 'Power of Attorney' ... Shame on you Dear! :((

Sunset Man, I'm sure he will sell you a very nice copy of it and "present" it to you if you'd like! ;) But I think I know what you're referring to... and to me it would look nice framed but it rocks even without one!! :)

Well, according to your profile photo, your arms look like they can handle 6lbs easy! lol Or is that how you get your workout? ;) You're doing great handholding... not sure there are many who do it that way, but I do agree, tripods can be a pain in the...

Lovely Monarch butterfly shots, Rich! I gotta find me a good location to break in this new lens of mine... any suggestions?

I can shot as low as 1/15 sec with the IS on a L lens. I have a 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens too, but I tend to use the 300 the most. They make a 400mm f/5.6 , but it isn't IS, great for birds and moon shots..........When I shoot with the 5D , the 300mm and my Canon 580 flash(the butterfly pics)I have about 6+lbs in my hand. I don't notice the weight...until the next day. I feel like I did have something in my hand LOL....Rich

Thanks Rich, that's good to know... and it makes sense. I guess I could have handheld also at 1/160th especially with the IS. But with this kind of shot there isn't much room for error and my hand isn't that steady. If I remember correctly, 300mm supposed to be 1/300sec. for handheld, so you did really good!

Mine is handheld..I went outfront and shot it tonight. I don't use a tripod on moon shots.I usually shoot at ISO 100 and f/7.1-f/9 and 1/125- 1/200 sec on full-partial moon shots.........Rich
