About
At Shakujii Park, I was testing the dynamic range of my new D300. The shadows under these trees and the bright sunlight beyond them were a good test. This is what they look like in B&W. I used a simulation of Kodak Tri-X, which used to be one of my favorite films.
Once the highlights are blown there is nothing you can do about them, alas. But I left them in this picture because they were were completely without detail even to the naked eye, so it is quite accurate as a photograph. Too much HDR can make things look unnatural. To answer your question about the camera, I already love it! It is a great improvement on the D200, which was my first digital SLR (and with which I was very disappointed).
Hi Roger, regarding the mid tones, and shadows, it seems very good, but the blown highlight is an extreme one, there is no any details there, what is your own personal opinion about the camera ? my best wishes, Saad.
