Stuff that Keith, these are one of the biggest killer of humans out of most wildlife. Thanks for your comments

Exactly! Nature contra photography, that is! ;-) I saw once a very upset photographer gesticulating like tghe people in wall street, screaming to some bear, why you *%&?/£-thing won't just sit where you are for just five %&"+£!-seconds!!!!! Five %&"+£!-seconds!!!!!
So... we add some pills against heart attachs to the necessary photographic equipment, ey? ;-)
Cheers!

Yes you are right, they almost always seem to have a great timing for moving just as you press the shutter or something.

You are very welcome, Dan!
I really thought of that kind of "hurry" for getting the right moment burned onto an image. In this case.. well, better shoot before the moment is gone since Hippos (and other creatures) do not seem to have been taught about our wishes! ;-)
Your 12MP are really scary! Not only inside such a mouth, I guess! They would be exactly as scary (in the good sense) for any possible finest details in a complete freedom of the typical pixelation artefacts. Wish you most fun of the world with it, which I know you will certainly have!!
Cheers!

Yes Nick I agree about the balance, at 400mm and in a rush to capture the moment I unfortunately didn't have any time for composition here. Not much else to the right except more hippo and water ;-). This shot is with my new 12MP camera, and yes the details are scary, especially in it's mouth. Thank you so much for your comments my friend.

The timing caught quite a vivid moment of the real life of the Hippo, Dan! I am very amazed by the high degree of fidelity in your details. Even the finest textures of skin were captured perfectly, and the lighting balance helps them being absolutely visible too. I'd prefer perhaps a small turn of the camera to the right, so that there is some more distance from its eye to the edge, without of course knowing if there was any kind of "obstacle" further to the right. The plane of water out of which it rises added also a nice hint about perspective.
Very good shot!
