Historic flight of the KLM airplane "de uiver" in october 1934. Schoolkids were able to purchase a support document like this and thus contribute to the financing of the flight to australia. This version was achieved by my dad, he was 8 years old then. Text on the paper is "praise from the dutch schoolyouth to the KLM and the crew of "de uiver". Below it says "you can see this memorial stone at schiphol airport this summer". Dad did follow almost the same route, via the Suez channel, onwards to Indonesia for politional actions in the KNIL army ~1947

The MacRobertson Trophy Air Race took place October, 1934 as part of the Melbourne Centenary celebrations. The idea of the race was devised by the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, and a prize fund of $75,000 was put up by Sir Macpherson Robertson, a wealthy Australian confectionery manufacturer, on the conditions that the race be named after his MacRobertson confectionery company, and that it be organised to be as safe as possible
