Inquisitive and destructive. They waterproof themselves by emitting a very fine yellow powder instead of oil as other creatures. They display a large yellow crest when startled or being agressive. They have been banned from importation to the USA, possibly because of their very loud screeching, their adaptability or their habit of eating houses, sheds, crops, clay (earth), just to name a few items. Oh, one other thing, keep fingers away from that formidable BEAK ! Having said that, these WILD birds regularly eat out of my HAND! It's intact.
I'm sorry, Michele, that I didn't get back to you earlier in response to your lovely comment with so much praise that I am a loss as to what to say in reply, except THANK YOU. Cheers my dear, JD
A thousand pardons, Jose. I sincerely apologise for my oversight on detecting your comment on my cute Cockies. Since I took this pic, another older one nearly took the END of my finger off ! They have amazing strenght in those beaks. Cheers JD
